The purpose of First Baptist Church-Hollister is to glorify God by being the salt and light of the world by allowing Christ to live in us to  change us into His image so that the world will be transformed by Christ living through us. We exist for the purpose of:

  1. Worship of the Creator God (Psa. 100, John 4:23-24)
  2. Edifying of believers (Discipleship) (Eph. 4:11-13)
  3. Teaching the whole counsel of God (Matt. 28:18-20, 2Tim. 4:1-2)
  4. Administering the ordinances (1Cor. 11:23-30,  Matt. 28:18-20)
  5. Seeking to win the lost through evangelism and missions, both home and abroad (Acts 1:8, Matt. 28:19-20, Acts 1:8, II Cor. 5:16-21)
  6. Establishing other churches of like faith and practice. (Acts 2:41-47)

Ministry Goals:

  1. To build a loving, caring and Christ centered atmosphere within the body of Christ where each member and guest is accepted: Open doors, open arms, open hearts.
  2. To make the body of Christ a refuge in a hostile world where every person can come for acceptance, fellowship and learn the word of God..
  3. To develop an effective outreach ministry, involving and utilizing the gifts and talents of every member to reach every person in Hollister and beyond with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
  4. To equip every member with the tools necessary for ministry to change the world one person at a time by introducing them to Jesus Christ through word, action and lifestyle.

Ministry Purpose:

  1. To correlate ministries and create the structure needed to carryout the functions of the church.
  2. To help all believers discover and use their God-given spiritual gifts so each one, according to their strength, is ministering to others according to their needs; with the objective that the total body will grow and each individual will become spiritually mature.
  3. To communicate leadership attitudes and skills to every member so all will grow into greater leadership potential.  Develop ministry leaders within the Church for ministry within the church, within their familes, and in the world.
  4. To prepare each member to carry out the ministry of the church by providing them tools to accomplish these tasks.
  5. To help all believers in the task of evangelism; reaching their families, friends and neighbors through existing and new relationships; sharing Christ with those beyond their circle of acquaintances; and becoming part of an evangelistic team outreach ministering to and reaching others for Christ.

The first step towards success for any local Church is the establishment of its core values. With those values identified, the Church body becomes a unified group of participants with a common vision and common goals. Our Church's core values direct our decisions about ministry, determine our priorities in ministry relationships, and define our understanding of the Biblical purpose of the Church. Our core values are:

  1. Worship God (Luke 4:8)
  2. Evangelizing the World (Matt. 28:19-20)
  3. Equipping Believers for Service (Eph. 4:11-13)
  4. Edifying One Another (1Thess. 5:11)
